Employers' Recruitment Insights

For most people, recruitment is the pathway to employment.

The Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business' Survey of Employers’ Recruitment Experiences provides insights into recruitment. Each year, more than 10,000 employers provide information about their local jobs market, including competition for vacancies. The survey results identify what employers are looking for in applicants and how job seekers can better connect with employment opportunities.

Employer survey results and analysis are available for selected areas across Australia and findings about the recruitment processes are provided in the links below.

Online job advertising levels and trends by region, occupation and skill level are detailed in the monthly vacancy report.

Employers’ Recruitment Insights

The Survey of Employers' Recruitment Experiences is used to monitor recruitment conditions and to provide up-to-date information on regional labour market challenges.

Workforce Shortages

The Department carries out research to identify workforce shortages at the state, territory and/or national level for around 80 occupations.
