Local Government Area Profiles

A series of statistical profiles have also been produced for each of the local government areas in Tasmania, which are available on request. These include one for each local government area, one for each of the regions, i.e. Greater Hobart-Southern; Northern Tasmania; and Mersey-Lyell (north-west Tasmania); and one for the whole of Tasmania. They include population data, labour market data on industries and occupations, some education data and some general social data. The data is drawn from ABS Census data up to 2011.  In addition a survey of each local council was conducted in 2013, which asked them to comment on their area, such as identifying what their largest industries were, and which industries they thought would be expanding or contracting in the future. Maps of each local government area, and their location in Tasmania are also available by emailing: tasleo@employment.gov.au
