Regional Labour Market Dashboards - November 2021 update

The dashboards combine a range of data for the 51 Employment Regions. Dashboards are also available for each state and territory, and at the national level.

The data used include the Labour Force Survey , Employment services Caseload, Internet Vacancy Index , and Small Area Labour Markets. Findings from the Recruitment Experiences and Outlook Survey (REOS) are also included in the dashboards for the states/territories and Australia.

The data are updated on a monthly basis.

Employment Region industry profiles – October 2021

The industry profiles provide an overview of industry employment trends for each of the 51 Employment Regions. The profiles show the industry composition within each region; trends for the largest 5 employing industries; and the industries employing youth and mature-aged people.

Data are primarily based on the ABS Labour Force Survey. ABS Census data are also used, as some data at the regional industry level are not available from other more recent sources.

A national overview is also available. This paper provides insights into: structural change; the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on employment, hours worked and job vacancies; and provides the latest NSC industry employment projections over the five years to November 2025.

The profiles will be updated approximately every 6 months.

Employment Region profiles on recruitment trends and employer needs – November 2021

These profiles provide an update on recruitment activity for each of the 51 Employment Regions. The profiles show trends in the Internet Vacancy Index and the top 10 jobs advertised, as well as the top 10 skills most requested in job ads. Data from the Recruitment Experiences and Outlook Survey are included to show the proportion of employers recruiting and whether they experienced difficulty recruiting; reasons for recruitment (for new positions or to replace staff); staffing outlook; and the methods employers used to advertise their positions.

The profiles source the NSC Internet Vacancy Index (IVI); the NSC Recruitment Experiences and Outlook Survey; and data from Burning Glass Technologies.

The profiles will be updated approximately every 6 months.
